The strongest study is not an endurance study
The 2025 branded-product pilot examined repeated maximal sprint power in elite rugby sevens players. It did not establish improved long-duration pace, aerobic capacity, time-to-exhaustion, or race performance. The peer-reviewed paper also cites an earlier null randomized crossover result in amateur cyclists. That does not prove the product never helps an endurance athlete, but it weakens any broad extrapolation.
Separate performance from temporary ache relief
An endurance athlete might be interested in the menthol gel for the labeled temporary relief of minor muscle and joint aches. That is a different purchase thesis from improving endurance performance or accelerating recovery. Persistent pain, pain that changes movement, or suspected injury deserves appropriate assessment rather than repeated masking.
When waiting is the better choice
Think twice if the only reason to buy is a general recovery headline, if $55 crowds out fueling or equipment needs, or if you require evidence in athletes and outcomes that resemble your event. Waiting for stronger replication is a rational decision.
